Giving Green in the Community

As stated in the University's mission, UNC Charlotte maintains a particular commitment to addressing the cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health and social needs of the greater Charlotte region.

Giving Green in the Community is an ongoing effort to connect UNC Charlotte faculty and staff to the community through the giving of their time, talents and treasures to a greater cause. We accomplish this by coordinating signature community service projects like those that are offered throughout the Giving Green Campaign.

Volunteer from Home Kits

For the 2020 fall campaign, we're offering 'volunteer from home kits' so faculty and staff can continue to serve even in a time when faced with social distancing restrictions.

You can choose to build 50 toiletry kits or 50 pencil packs. Once you complete the kits, you will get to decide which local nonprofit receives the donation and deliver it to them directly. No matter which activity you participate in, please be sure to log service leave in KRONOS.

Thanks to your overwhelming support, we have temporarily run out of kits...but more are on order, so stay tuned!

Toiletry Kit Build

Each toiletry kit will include 2 tubes of toothpaste, 2 lotion bottles, 1 deodorant, 1 toothbrush and 1 bar of soap. Crisis Assistance Ministry, Jamil Niner Student Pantry, The Men’s Shelter of Charlotte or Urban Ministry Center are a few places to consider donating the completed kits.

Niner University Elementary School, Classroom Central, YMCA of Greater Charlotte branches or the Urban League of Charlotte are a few examples of nonprofit organizations you can consider donating the completed kits. These kits are ideal for K-5 students.
